Ambertown Notables

Master Ellory Tuckett
Head of the Weaver's and Tailor's Guild
Master Tuckett is a heavyset, balding man with a pleasant disposition. The blue vest he always wears has many small pockets, full of needles, scissors, thimbles, various colored threads, measuring strings, and the odd lemon drop. He is personally responsible for the king's wardrobe.

Lord and Lady Bayle
Royal Vintner
Oliver Bayle is the vintner to the Crown. He is tall and dour, while his wife, Veronica, is plump and jovial and famous for her pies. King Oberon's especially fond of Bayle's White, with its delicate taste and floral overtones. Prince Eric, on the otherhand, dismissed the White as overly sweet, saying it was a woman's drink, and started the appellation "Bayle's Piss." Lord Bayle responded nobly by starting development into a dryer, more robust white. Unfortunately, Eric died before seeing Lord Bayle's work come to fruition. It is generally thought that Bayle's Red is the more sophisticated wine. Besides the Red and White, the Winery also produces a fine mead. Bayle's Vineyards and Winery lie north, on the other side of Kolvir.

Josh Krint

Owner of the inn and pub The Merry Unicorn
The Merry Unicorn is a well-respected establishment and located on the Main Concourse. Josh Krint has a winning smile and a reputation as a gambler. It's common knowledge that he won The Merry Unicorn from Lord Galloway during a poker game with a pair of sixes. Always with his fingers into a new venture, Krint gains and loses money like the rising and falling of the tide.

Sir Nathan Rein
Knight of Amber; knighted by Corwin at the Battle of Jones Falls fighting the Weirmonken
Sir Rein is young for a knight. His light hair and blue eyes have made him a favorite with the ladies. He's often seen with a different woman on his arm most anytime, sometimes two in the same night. Once King Corwin's squire and knighted personally by Corwin, Rein is fiercely loyal to him. In his spare time Rein plays the lute and composes ballads that he sings at The Merry Unicorn.

Sir Ian Reginald
Knight of Amber; knighted by Eric
Sir Reginald is from the distinguished Inlow family, although he doesn't look much like the fair-haired, fair-skinned Inlows with his dark complexion and dark eyes. There was some talk about dalliancing on the part of his mother, though it was never proven. Reginald was knighted by Prince Eric for valor shown against a foe of Amber, in this case a large red dragon that had wandered in along the shadow-ways from the west.

Master Robin Overstreet
Head of the Merchant's Guild
Master Overstreet is an short, thin man with dark hair and goatee. He's known for his shrewd business deals and his sharp wit. There is considerable economic pressure for a shop to be a part of the Guild, and as such Overstreet has influence over much of Ambertown.

Lord and Lady Padgett
Lord Malcolm Padgett and his wife Elie own a large farm south of Ambertown on the way to Cabra. They grow crops and raise cattle and sheep. Padgett Farm is especially famous for its hearty white wheat, which produces a fine bread pale in color and nutty in flavor. Elie owns several looms and is known for the distinctive designs woven into her wool blankets. She is a member of the Weaver's Guild.

Lord and Lady Inlow
Lord Bransby Inlow and his wife Clarice are patrons of the arts and own and administrate the several schools and colleges in Ambertown. Tuition is high, along with the profit margin. They consider themselves the authority on all things cultural in Ambertown and have plans to join the several colleges into a university. Clarice and Princess Flora are good friends.

Lord Galloway
Lord Angus Galloway owns a fishing fleet with rights to fish off the waters to the north and east of Amber. He used to own The Merry Unicorn until he lost it to Josh Krint in a poker game. Galloway is obsessed with mermaids and has paintings and carvings of them throughout his home. He's a frequent visitor to Rebma and on good terms with Queen Moire.

Admiral Hoyle
Admiral of the Royal Navy
Hoyle is an older gentleman and has been with the Royal Navy for almost fifty years. Considered crass by some, Hoyle rarely minces words and is very open about his personal opinion. A perfectionist, Hoyle demands the same from his crew aboard the Lady Elspeth. It's not known why he named his ship such, and if asked will tell you to mind your own business. He's often seen playing cards with Prince Gerard and the two are good friends.

Benjamin Clark
Lead Reporter for the Ambertown newspaper The Herald
Clark is a young, ambitious man with red hair and wire-rimmed glasses that he's always adjusting. He is like a badger when it comes to following leads for a story: stubborn, persistent, single-minded, and vicious when cornered. People earnestly dread becoming fodder for one of Clark's editorials, and as such tend to avoid him whenever they can. It's common knowledge that Clark has his eye to eventually own The Herald someday.

Cross-Eyed Nick
Owner of the pub Piss and Vinegar
Cross-Eyed Nick is a greasy man with a peg leg and a wandering eye. After his tour in the Royal Navy was over, Nick went rogue and tried piracy for awhile. Apprehended eventually, Nick suffered flogging and confinement for his ill-ways. Once released, he spent his days and nights for several months wandering from one pub to another down in the dock district. The Piss and Vinegar's previous owner--and it has a high turnover--was knifed inside his establishment. Nick decided to buy the pub (it was unclear where he came up with the money, but few questions were asked) and became its new owner. He still drinks quite heavily, but at least he's off the streets now. Cross-eyed Nick gets his jollies from showing the scars on his back from his flogging to young children and hearing them scream.

Mayor Humphrey Larch
Mayor of Ambertown
Appointed by King Oberon, Larchhas been mayor for almost twenty years. Silver-haired and bright-eyed, Larchhas lost none of his edge despite his advancing years. He's on good terms withall the guild masters and competent at playing them off one another to suit hisown interests. King Oberon frequently took Larch into his confidence and usedhim for counsel.
